Thousands of children and families are expected to join Great Parks at its biggest event of the summer: the two-day Kids Outdoor Adventure Expo on July 18-19 at Winton Woods Harbor. The Expo is an opportunity to try out many of the experiences Great Parks offers, all in one location and only steps apart. From archery to ziplines, and from rafting to rock climbing, it’s all available at this special mid-summer festival of fun, with free admission to welcome as many people as possible.

“With Great Parks spread over 18,000 acres throughout the county, it can be challenging to access all we have to offer,” said Todd Palmeter, Great Parks CEO. “By hosting this event every summer, everyone has the opportunity to discover our amazing experiences. The Kids Outdoor Adventure Expo is how we are bringing Great Parks adventures to you, and it’s our hope this event will inspire more people to join us in the parks.”

The Expo is an example of Great Parks’ partnership with Metro, which provides easy access for residents in the urban core and throughout the region to Great Parks’ destinations, emphasizing the event’s theme. Metro’s Route 20 delivers riders directly to Winton Woods Harbor, where they can enjoy all the activities available at the Expo.

Most of the recreational and educational activities from Great Parks will be available both Friday and Saturday. For the first time this year, Great Parks will offer a zipline. Other highlights for the two days include rafting on Winton Lake, rock climbing, fishing, archery and disc golf. The FC Cincinnati Soccer Zone will invite guests to test their ball skills with FC ambassadors. The wet play area at Winton Woods Harbor will also be open, free of charge.

While Friday is open to everyone, many of the participants will be children arriving from area daycare and summer camp programs throughout the region.

Great Parks is hosting its second race day of 2025 on Saturday, with a 5k,10k and the brand-new Kids Adventure Dash. Registration ranges from $10-45 and is available at GreatParks.org. Participants in the 5K and 10K receive a medal and t-shirt, and winners in each category also receive a special prize. The Naked Karate Girls and Saffire Express bands will also perform on Saturday.

Guests are also encouraged to participate in a fun Stuff the Trunk activity with Cincinnati Mini. Items stuffed into the Mini will be donated to Girl Scouts to provide outdoor experiences to local troop members. Requested items include camping backpacks, sleeping bags and camp kitchen supplies and cookware.

Kids Outdoor Adventure Expo is from 9:30 a.m.-3 p.m. on Friday, July 18, and 10 a.m.-4 p.m. on Saturday, July 19. The 5k/10k races begin at 8 a.m. on Saturday, with the Kids Adventure Dash starting at 10 a.m.

Great Parks thanks event sponsors including Official Automotive Partner Cincinnati Mini, Supporting Sponsor the Charles H. Dater Foundation and soccer zone partner FC Cincinnati.
