Farbach-Werner Nature Preserve

Tucked away in a lively commercial corridor, this destination offers a welcomed escape from the hustle and bustle of the city. With a rich history dating back to the early 1800s, it was originally granted to a Revolutionary War veteran and later became home to a toolmaker, whose barn and home still stand on the property today. Donated to Great Parks in 1972, the preserve has remained a beloved community gathering space.

Mitchell Memorial Forest

Mitchell Memorial Forest was the country home of William Morris Mitchell, who developed a deep love for nature and gifted his family's land to Great Parks in 1974. His vision of a lush, thriving forest was realized 40 years later thanks to the legacy and funding he left behind. Today it serves as a hiking, fishing and mountain biking destination.

Oak Glen Nature Preserve

Spanning rugged hills near the Great Miami River, Oak Glen Nature Preserve is home to uncommon plant species and few invasives, suggesting minimal past land disturbance. It remains a protected conservation area managed by Great Parks to preserve Hamilton County's natural beauty. Great Parks continues to work with the Ohio EPA, Sunoco Logistics and Mid-Valley Pipeline by continuing to examine the stream and surrounding areas and providing recommendations to remediate and restore damages from the 2014 Oil Spill.

Otto Armleder Shared-use Trail

Otto Armleder Memorial Park

Along the Little Miami River in Cincinnati's Linwood neighborhood, guests and their four-legged friends explore open green spaces, paved trails and a spacious dog park, while paddlers enjoy canoe access for a leisurely day on the water. Otto Armleder Memorial Park is jointly managed and operated by Great Parks, the Cincinnati Park Board and the Cincinnati Recreation Commission.

Richardson Forest Preserve

Donated to Great Parks by Mrs. Ann Richardson in 1978, Richardson Forest Preserve is home to rare and unusual plant species like skunk cabbage, marsh marigold and five-angled dodder. It remains a protected conservation area managed by Great Parks to preserve Hamilton County's natural beauty.

Sharon Woods

Inspired by established county park systems, former Cincinnati Mayor Murray Seasongood led the movement for Great Parks' founding in 1930, then known as the Hamilton County Park Board. Plans to acquire large tracts of land soon followed, and by 1932, Sharon Woods opened to the public as Great Parks' first official destination. Boasting a rich geological history and wide-ranging recreational opportunities, it remains a generational fixture in the lives of Greater Cincinnatians.

Werk Road Property

In October 2023, Great Parks approved a concept master plan based on ideas presented by the community. This plan establishes a long-range vision for the park, and its implementation will be phased out over many years. Great Parks is currently working on a timeline and funding strategy for implementation and is excited to continue working with its Westwood neighbors to build out this new community asset. While parking is not available, guests can visit the destination via close Metro stops including: Closest Transit Stops: Metro Rt. 6: 10-minute walk from Queen City Ave and Ferguson Road Metro Rt. 21: 7-minute walk from Harrison Ave and Werk Road Metro Rt. 51: 16-minute walk from Montana Ave and Epworth Ave
