Legacy Program

By adopting a legacy tree or bench, you enhance the natural beauty of Great Parks while enriching memories for yourself and the community.

Legacy Bench Guidelines

Legacy benches are available for adoption for a 5-year period and are maintained by Great Parks. In recognition of the contribution, a plaque engraved with a personalized inscription can be added to the bench. After the 5-year period ends, the current honoree or family will be given the first opportunity to re-adopt the legacy bench. Legacy benches are available year-round.

Legacy Tree Guidelines

Legacy trees are available for adoption for a 5-year period. Honorees will be recognized in Great Parks online Legacy Program Gallery for the adoption period. Family members, friends or honorees will be invited to submit one photo and up to 100 words about your honoree. After the 5-year period ends, the current honoree or family will be given the first opportunity to re-adopt the legacy tree. Legacy trees are planted between Oct. 1 and Dec. 15. Trees adopted after Oct. 1 will be planted between Oct. 1 and Dec. 15 the following year.

Legacy Program Disclaimer

Great Parks reserves the right to relocate or replace a tree or bench with a comparable tree or bench due to capital construction, landscape redesign or other extenuating circumstances. During the 5-year warranty period, Great Parks’ staff will make its best efforts to contact the donor or honoree at the last known postal address, email address or phone number, should a relocation or replacement need arise.

Legacy trees and benches must be left as-is; no additional decorations, plantings or ashes may be added.

An acknowledgment card can be sent to the honoree’s family if an address is provided.

Contributions are tax-deductible to the full extent of the law.
