Great Parks is celebrating the expansion of and improvements to the Winton Woods Campground, including a completely renovated shower facility, with an open house from 10 a.m.-noon on Wednesday, August 20. Campers and guests from the public are welcome to stroll the campground to view the upgrades, gather around a campfire, enjoy some s’mores and learn camping tips from the Great Parks team.

“These improvements enhance what is already a very relaxing setting at Winton Woods Campground, which is a fun getaway with trails, paddling, fishing and Winton Lake just steps away,” said Todd Palmeter, Great Parks CEO. “The campground is another of the outstanding experiences the public has asked for from their Great Parks.”

The campground now features completely renovated shower facilities. The old facility was remodeled from the frame up with a fresh, upgraded interior. All electric at the campground was upgraded, and new concrete pads add convenient new RV capacity.

Great Parks also added a system to collect graywater, or wastewater that comes from showers and sinks. The graywater from the campground will be collected in a large underground tank for proper disposal. Graywater collection and disposal is an extension of Great Parks’ goal to be a conservation leader in the region.

Upgrades are funded by the 0.95-mill levy passed by Hamilton County voters in 2021 to support critical infrastructure needs and master plan initiatives. The Park and Facility Master Plans for Great Parks propose other new camping experiences which will be addressed in future years.
